James Bond Actor Rory Kinnear Films at Kerala Canteen in Leeds

There has been a little more than curries and cocktails being served at Kerala Canteen recently.

We were delighted to welcome Olivier Award-winning British actor Rory Kinnear and a television production crew to Kerala Canteen on St Peter’s Street in Leeds, where scenes for an upcoming TV series were filmed inside the restaurant.

Rory Kinnear will be familiar to many viewers as Bill Tanner in the James Bond films, appearing alongside Daniel Craig in Quantum of Solace, Skyfall, Spectre and No Time to Die.

For us, having a major television production choose our restaurant as a filming location was a very exciting moment.

From Kerala Canteen to the Small Screen

Filming began early in the morning, with Kerala Canteen temporarily transformed into part of the production set.

Unfortunately, that is about as much as we’re allowed to reveal for now.

The production is still under wraps, and we’ve been asked not to disclose details about the series or the scenes filmed at the restaurant before its release.

So, for now, we’ll have to keep the details to ourselves.

We are looking forward to finally being able to tell you more when the series reaches your screen.

There is, however, one little detail we can share…

Rory Kinnear’s Favourite? Our Lunch Mini Thali

During his time filming at Kerala Canteen, Rory Kinnear particularly enjoyed our Lunch Mini Thali.

For our kitchen team, that was a lovely compliment.

The Mini Thali was created as a simple way to enjoy a selection of Kerala Canteen flavours at lunchtime without committing to a long, formal meal. It brings together several dishes on one plate, making it an ideal choice for anyone who wants to experience a little more of what we do.

It has also become a popular choice with our lunchtime guests.

So, if you’d like to try the dish that Rory Kinnear enjoyed during filming, why not come and experience our Lunch Mini Thali for yourself?

A Big Thank You to Our Guests

Being selected as a filming location is exciting, but for us it represents something much bigger.

Kerala Canteen is an independent Indian restaurant in Leeds, and everything we’ve achieved has been helped by the people who have supported us along the way.

Every table booked, every recommendation to a friend, every review, every Instagram share and every return visit helps more people discover what we’re doing.

That growing reputation is also helping Kerala Canteen get noticed beyond the restaurant world — including, on this occasion, by a television production team.

So we want to say a genuine thank you to everyone who has supported Kerala Canteen and helped us get this far.
